The Moon Booth was inspired by the 'Paper Moon' travelling photo studios popular at the turn of the 20th Century and often shot in portable photographic booths that could be found at arcades, carnivals and county fairs.‘Paper Moon’ portraits were generally an American phenomenon and there is little information about how and why they started. There was however a general fascination with the moon at the turn of the century with the first successful flight of an aeroplane by the Wright Brothers in 1903 and the passing of Halley’s Comet in 1910. Take a look at our PINTREST GALLERY for examples of vintage photographs.
We have recreated the ethos of the travelling pop up photo studio offering instant take away pictures of a special moment in time and since our launch in 2011 we have constantly developed and refined the Moon Booth experience. We offer 2 processing options: original distressed black & white, and the more romantic colour with clouds.
We also have 2 moons: original Mr Moon with the friendly face and an elegant Silvery Moon with no face specially commissioned by Swarovski for an event in Paris. Examples can be seen in the gallery on the left.
The Moon Booth is perfect at a wide variety of events. We have landed at weddings, birthday parties, burlesque & cabaret evenings, museums, festivals, gallery openings and more.
